Record on Apple Watch and sync to iPhone
PaddlePal can record a workout on Apple Watch without keeping your iPhone beside you. Set up the app and permissions before leaving.
Record on Watch
- Install the current Watch app and open it at least once.
- Follow the Health and location permission prompts.
- Wait for a location outdoors, then tap GO.
- Use the workout controls to pause, resume and end the session. Follow the on-screen end and save prompts.
Check the workout timer after starting. Use Water Lock as appropriate for your Watch; the app’s reminder does not replace checking the Watch’s actual Water Lock state.
Bring the workout to iPhone
- Bring the paired Watch and iPhone together after recording.
- Keep Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled and open PaddlePal on both devices.
- Allow time for the workout and its route to sync, then open Logbook on iPhone.
A workout summary may arrive before its full route. Strava uploads also depend on the iPhone receiving the saved workout and having internet access.
If a session is missing
Check Apple Health for the workout and follow the missing-workout guide. Preserve the original workout while troubleshooting; avoid deleting it or reinstalling the app as a first step.
PaddleSafe is separate
Standalone GPS recording does not guarantee emergency-message connectivity. Set up the contact on iPhone and read the PaddleSafe guide before relying on sharing or alerts.
