Import routes and export GPX or FIT files
A planned route tells you where you intend to paddle. A workout export contains data from a session you have already recorded.
Import a planned GPX route
- Save the GPX file to Files on your iPhone. You can download available route files from PaddleFinder.
- Open PaddlePal and choose Explore → Routes.
- Open the add (+) menu and choose Import GPX.
- Select the file, review the route and save it.
If import fails, check that it is a GPX file containing route or track coordinates rather than a web page renamed with a .gpx extension. Review the map before setting off. Current saved-route limits may depend on Pro access.
Export a recorded workout
- Open a saved workout in Logbook on iPhone.
- Wait for its route to load.
- Open the workout’s options menu and choose Export GPX or Export FIT.
- Use the share sheet to save or share the file.
Workout GPX and FIT export require PaddlePal Pro. Export options are available when the workout has route data. If the map is still syncing, allow it to finish first.
Which format should I choose?
- GPX: useful for exchanging a recorded route with compatible mapping or GPS software.
- FIT: useful for compatible workout platforms, including importing a file into Garmin Connect. This is a file export, not a direct Garmin account sync.
Exported files can reveal your precise route. Review the destination and audience before sharing.
