PaddlePal isn't recording my location - What do I do?

If PaddlePal cannot find your location or your workout has no route, check location permissions before starting another paddle.

Check iPhone permissions

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Choose Privacy & Security → Location Services and turn Location Services on.
  3. Select PaddlePal and allow location access while using the app. Follow any additional permission request shown by PaddlePal.
  4. Turn on Precise Location.
  5. Return to PaddlePal outdoors and wait for your location to appear before tapping GO.

Check the recording device

When recording on Apple Watch, also check location access on the Watch. A phone showing your location does not prove that a Watch recording has location permission.

A blank map can also mean that map tiles have not loaded. GPS recording itself can work without mobile data. Health permissions are separate: allow Workouts and Workout Routes when prompted so PaddlePal can save and read the workout route.

Still no route?

Save any active workout before restarting or changing permissions. Check for app updates, then try a short recording outdoors. Tell support whether the workout is missing entirely or only its map is missing.
